How does concrete leveling work?
Concrete leveling is a relatively simple process used to fix broken, sunken, upheaved, or otherwise unlevel concrete surfaces. While the materials used in concrete leveling vary, the process is largely the same. To begin with, tiny holes are drilled in the uneven concrete. Then, either a mud mixture (for mudjacking) or a polyurethane mixture (for polyjacking) is inserted through the holes to fill the empty space until the concrete levels out. Then the small holes in the concrete are refilled and the whole thing dries within a couple of hours.
What’s the difference between mudjacking and polyjacking?
Mudjacking and polyjacking differ in a couple of ways, but both are strategies for leveling concrete that we offer here at JW. The main difference is the material used. In polyjacking, quick-expanding polyurethane foam is inserted beneath the concrete. This mixture dries quickly – usually within 30 minutes – and lasts longer than the concrete/mud mixture used in a mudjacking project. The downside to polyjacking is that it is more expensive. Give us a call today to discuss which is right for you.
What surfaces can be concrete leveled?
We are proud to provide a wide range of concrete leveling options for your home or commercial property. These include leveling foundations, garage or warehouse floors, driveways, sidewalks, concrete steps, and many other types of interior and exterior concrete slabs. If it needs to be leveled, we can likely do it!
How long until I can use the area being leveled?
As opposed to waiting days for new concrete to dry, concrete leveling materials dry within just a few hours (some within only 30 minutes). It all depends on the size of the job and the materials used.
Can you level decorative concrete?
Yes. Concrete leveling can be performed on any type of decorative or patterned concrete surface with minimally noticeable results. We drill tiny holes to access the area needing to be repaired and fill and patch with materials that match the existing concrete.
What is your concrete leveling service area?
JW Mudjacking provides great value concrete leveling services to customers in Wisconsin Dells and surrounding communities.
How long does concrete leveling last?
Polyjacking, in particular, is a long-lasting concrete leveling strategy as the material will not wear down over time. One concern is soil erosion beneath the poly material, but this can be avoided by maintaining the surface concrete and filling cracks and gaps that appear. While mudjacking is not as long-lasting a solution as polyjacking, it can last 8 years or more.
Why should I worry about uneven concrete?
While it may not seem like a big deal, uneven concrete can have big repercussions if not dealt with in a timely manner. Aside from being ugly, uneven concrete can be a tripping hazard. It can also put pressure on the soil beneath it, which can drive added moisture toward your building’s foundation and cause mold problems.
Leveling your concrete surfaces is a worthwhile expenditure to ensure the safety and ongoing health of your home or commercial property.
Why shouldn’t I just replace my concrete?
Replacing concrete is a labor-intensive process that often requires days of drying before you can use the surface again. Concrete leveling takes less than a day to perform and to dry, requires much less labor and, thus, saves you a lot of money. In fact, it is estimated that, while concrete leveling costs around $3 to $5 per square foot, replacing concrete costs more than twice that.
How much does concrete leveling cost?
We cannot estimate the cost of a concrete leveling project until we understand the scale and whether you’d prefer to use mudjacking or polyjacking strategies. Give us a call today to discuss your project and we can provide an estimate.
