How does concrete leveling work?
Concrete leveling, also known as mudjacking or polyjacking, is just what it sounds like: using tools and materials to balance out concrete surfaces. This can be done a couple of different ways. With mudjacking, small holes are made in the problem concrete area. Then, a mud mixture is inserted into the space beneath the concrete slab, moving it until it becomes level. Once this is done, the concrete holes are refilled and the project is left to dry, usually within 2-3 hours. Polyjacking is the same process, just using a polyurethane material to fill the space beneath the concrete.
What’s the difference between mudjacking and polyjacking?
Polyjacking and mudjacking both do an important job: they level concrete slabs that have cracked, sunken, or otherwise become uneven. The difference between them lies in the material used to do so; polyjacking uses an expanding foam made of polyurethane and mudjacking uses a concrete slurry. Both are effective ways to level concrete, though polyjacking is more eco-friendly, quick-drying, and long-lasting – and more expensive. Not sure which is right for you? Give us a call today to discuss.
What surfaces can be concrete leveled?
If you notice sinking concrete on the interior or exterior of your residential or commercial property, give JW Mudjacking a call. We level all types of concrete surfaces, including driveways, sidewalks, garage floors, loading docks, concrete steps, porches, and patios. If it’s concrete, we can probably fix it.
How long until I can use the area being leveled?
Concrete leveling is a great option if you can’t spare days to wait for new concrete to dry. A mudjacking project normally dries in a few hours, while a polyjacking project can dry even faster, within 30 minutes to one hour.
Can you level decorative concrete?
Another great thing about concrete leveling is that it is minimally invasive. Decorative concrete can certainly be leveled and, at JW Mudjacking, we do our best to ensure the patching of the holes drilled in the concrete is barely noticeable, if noticeable at all.
What is your concrete leveling service area?
We proudly provide expert mudjacking and concrete leveling services to the Baraboo community as well as surrounding areas of Wisconsin.
How long does concrete leveling last?
Polyjacking and mudjacking are much more than just temporary solutions to uneven concrete. In fact, the polyurethane material used in polyjacking resists wear and tear indefinitely and mudjacking can last a decade. You will just need to keep an eye on surface concrete and fill any cracks that appear to avoid future soil erosion under the poly material.
Why should I worry about uneven concrete?
While it’s not the most exciting upgrade you can make to your property, concrete leveling is worth the time and money. Uneven or sunken concrete can be a tripping hazard and can put additional pressure on the building’s foundation, setting yourself up for moisture and mold problems.
Fixing uneven concrete is a relatively simple and cost-effective way to make your home or commercial property safe and stable.
Why shouldn’t I just replace my concrete?
Replacing concrete requires a lot of labor, from tearing up the existing concrete, moving it, pouring new concrete, and time in waiting for it to dry. Alternately, concrete leveling requires minimal time and labor and costs significantly less than a full replacement. While certain concrete areas are beyond repair, give JW Mudjacking a call for a consultation before you decide to replace it.
How much does concrete leveling cost?
For the most accurate estimate of how much your concrete leveling project will cost, give JW Mudjacking a call. The total amount depends on the scope of the project and what material you decide to use.
